We use your information to run the core features of BuildDNA: tracking drives, building your public garage page, calculating leaderboards, and showing you a feed of activity from people you follow.
We don't use your data for advertising, sell it to data brokers, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Location tracking only runs while you have an active drive recording, or briefly in the background to auto-detect the start of a drive if you've enabled that setting. You can turn off background location detection at any time in your device's settings, though drive auto-detection won't work without it.
Live location sharing is off by default. If you opt in from Settings → Privacy, your approximate location is shared with friends who follow you only while a drive is in progress — it is never sold to third parties. Disabling it clears your stored live coordinates immediately.
Route coordinates from completed drives are stored as part of your drive record; you can delete any drive, and its route data, from within the app at any time.
Your garage page, drive summaries, and badges are public by default so you can share a link to show off a build. You can switch individual drives or your whole profile to private in Settings at any time.
We don't sell your personal data. We share data with service providers who help us run the app (hosting, push notifications, crash reporting), bound by contracts that limit how they can use it. We may also disclose information if required by law, or as part of a merger or acquisition — in which case you'll be notified.
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, garage, and drive history are removed within 30 days, except where we're required to retain records for legal reasons. Some anonymized, aggregated data (like total platform drive counts) may be kept indefinitely, but it can't be used to identify you.

BuildDNA is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
